Network adapter keeps reverting to DHCP instead of static IP

If you have statically set an IP address but the GUI is showing obtain automatically is still checked, you either typed in an invalid IP, or there is a corrupt file you need to delete.

In Windows, make sure you don't key in IPs with leading 0's. Example: 010.005.048.168 needs to be 10.5.48.168

If the issue is still not resolved, please continue using steps below

Start > Search box > type: regedit (hit enter)

Browse to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network

In the pane on the left, right-click on the folder Network and choose Export. Name it what you want and save it to your Desktop as a backup.

In the pane on the right, right-click on the entry named Config, and choose Delete. Reboot your device.
