How to perform a software update on an iPhone or iPad

Preparing for the update

If an update is available, you have to connect to Wi-Fi in order to download it.

At almost every office, we provide an SSID called Seneca iOS, that is ONLY to be used for iOS updates:

Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose a network... > Seneca iOS   (Do NOT connect to the SSID: Seneca Companies)

Seneca provided iPhones and iPads are pre-configured to connect to the SSID: Seneca iOS (no pre-shared key will be needed)

If you don't see the SSID named Seneca, that's okay. Any public or home Wi-Fi connection will also work for this process.


Performing the update

From your Apple device, go to Settings > General > Software Update

The update requires 50% or greater battery life and takes about 30-45 minutes.
