Apple iPhone and iPad: Setup and Policies

Getting Ready to use your Seneca iPhone or iPad

Step 1

  1. Apple ID
    1. This is a required item for using and iPhone or iPad
    2. You can use an Existing Apple ID if you already have one, or you can create one.
    3. Create an Apple ID (do this ahead of time if possible)

      1. Go to http://appleid.apple.com

 

  1. Use an email address you already have, or you can use your Seneca email address.

    1. Uncheck the 3 check boxes: 1) Announcements, 2) Apple Music, iTunes, iBooks, and App Store Offers, and 3) Apple New Updates.

  • You will receive a verification email from Apple before you can use the new ID. Access your email in order to verify this.
  1. Continue to Step 2

 

 

Step 2

******IMPORATANT NOTE*********
If this device is being reused do a factory reset (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings)

  1. Activating your iPhone or iPad
    1. If you already have a Seneca cell phone, power off the old phone and power on the iPhone.
    2. If this is your first company phone, Press the Power button (located on the right side) to power the iPhone on.
    3. Press the home button to unlock the device.
    4. Select the English then select United States.
    5. Quick Start select Set Up Manually
    6. Select Use Cellular
    7. Data & Privacy select Continue
    8. Select a Set Up option:
      1. Set Up as New iPhone (Use this if you’ve never had an iPhone or don’t want this one setup like your previous iPhone)
      2. Restore from iCloud Backup (Select this option if you have had an iPhone and have a backup on iCloud)
      3. Restore from iTunes Backup (Don’t use this option)
  2. If you choose Set Up as New iPhone follow these directions, otherwise go down to 4 Restore from iCloud Backup 
    1. Remote Management select Next
    2. Touch ID select Continue
      1. Follow the on screen directions to enable Touch ID
        1. Place your thumb or finger on the Home button repeatedly as directed.
          (Do not press the Home Button down, just rest your thumb on top of it until it vibrates and pick it up and set it back down until it completes)
        2. If prompted to change your grip, tap Continue.
    3. Create a Passcode enter a 6 digit code to secure your device
      1. Avoid using PINs from other accounts and devices, as well as other common passcodes
    4. Sign in with the Apple ID you created in Step 1
    5. Select Enable Location Services
    6. Siri select Continue
    7. Select Set up "Hey Siri" later
    8. Welcome to iPhone select Get Started
    9. Continue to Step 3 below
  3. If you choose Restore from iCloud Backup follow these directions
    1. Enter your Apple ID
    2. Choose Backup select your Latest iPhone backup
    3. Settings from Your Backup select Continue
    4. Restore from iCloud your phone will begin to restore and will reboot when it needs to
    5. Restore Completed select Continue
    6. Remote Management select Next
    7. Touch ID select Continue
      1. Follow the on screen directions to enable Touch ID

    10. Continue to Step 3 below

 

Step 3

  1. Setup Email
    1. Click on the Mail icon on the home screen
    2. Select Exchange
    3. Type in your Seneca email address, Select Next, Select Sign In, and enter you password, enter your Authenticator code, and Click Done
    4. Click Save
    5. Continue to Step 4

 

 

 

Step 4

  1. Next you will want to go to Settings (the grey Gear icon on the homepage)
    1. Cellular
    2. Enable LTE
    3. Select Voice & Data
    4. Go back to Cellular (click the blue back arrow that says Cellular), and scroll to the bottom of the screen. Turn Off Wifi Assist (click it so it is NOT green)
    5. Go back to settings (click the blue back arrow that says Cellular) scroll down to General and Click that.
    6. Click About
    7. Click the x at the end of the box and type in your first and last name followed by iPhone or iPad depending on what device you’re setting up
    8. Continue to Step 5


Step 5

5. Update iOS on you iPhone or iPad to the latest Version

  1. Go to Settings and Connect to wifi
  2. Go to General > Software Update
  3. If your device is on the current version of iOS you will see the following message, otherwise click download and install
